What is the default password for my Pogo Linux system?

Pogo Linux ships all of our pre-installed systems with a set of default passwords. These will allow root or administrator access for most distributions.

Red Hat or CentOS based Distributions:

Username: root

Password: pogo12admin

Ubuntu and Debian based Distributions:

Username: pogo

Password: pogo12admin

You can then perform administrative actions via the ‘sudo’ command. For more information on sudo, please run ‘man sudo’ when logged in. (Ubuntu, by default, maintains a policy to prevent direct root logon.)

Windows 8 / Windows 10

Username: pogo

Password: pogo12admin

Windows Server 2008R2 and Windows Server 2012

Username: Administrator

Password: !pogo12admin

The exclamation point has been added to the beginning because of the higher group policy restrictions for passwords required in Windows 2008 Server or newer.

From the root login you can undertake many administrative tasks, such as adding users, printers, Internet connections, installing software, starting or stopping the network connection, controlling the security of the system, and a host of other very important tasks. Important: As the ‘root’ user, you can do severe damage to your system (enough to require complete re-installation of the operating system), so please use caution.

If you are still having trouble logging in to your new system, please contact our support team for further assistance.
